A letter from the board: BurnOut & Onward

Dear Portland Burning Man Community,

As we return from the dust and to business as usual, PNW has been looking at our collective capacity, and after reflection we have decided to not organize a Decompression event this year. In hindsight, we wish we made this decision sooner.

Decompression isn’t just produced by Precipitation NW—it is a co-created gift that relies entirely on the collective efforts and participation of our entire community. Looking ahead, we are already diving into the SOAK 2027 event cycle, and because a proper Decompression takes so much heavy lifting from both our core organizers and all of you as community creators, we simply feel we do not have the bandwidth to give it the love and attention it deserves this year.

We are working toward more community involvement for future planned events that might not be organized directly by the PNW board, but could be considered for grant funding. Please attend the annual Town Hall meeting in January for more details & information..
