BURNOUT 2017 EVENT INFORMATION:  BurnOut 2017 is the inaugural event for Precipitation Northwest, with proceeds benefitting our organization’s ongoing programs. This year the event will be held at The North Warehouse, which is conveniently located close to the Portland city center as well as major public transit such as the MAX, Portland Streetcar, and buses. It will allow for both indoor and outdoor art and music exhibits, and food and alcohol will be available for purchase indoors. Activities include live DJs, theme camps, performances, and interactive art, with an expected attendance of 800+ attendees over the course of the evening. Adjacent to the BurnOut event will be the BurnOut Annex, which is a free event open to the public that will allow visitors the opportunity to learn more about our organization, our activities, and our vibrant burner community.

BurnOut

EVENT OVERVIEW: BurnOut is the official Decompression event for Portland, Oregon and the surrounding areas, and is sanctioned by Burning Man. The goal for the event is to host an event following the annual Burning Man event in Nevada to provide a space for local burners to host art, build community, inspire creativity, perform and enjoy music, and create memories as we all return from the Playa or decompress from the Burning Man season. Anyone can participate. (Some events or portions of events may have 21+ restrictions). BurnOut is officially sanctioned as a post-Burning Man decompression event, and brings the principles and energy from the Burning Man event to our region. It provides “burners” (aka Burning Man event attendees) in the Portland area an opportunity to celebrate our community and culture, while providing a creative and interactive space for them to network and build connections with other like-minded people in our region after they return from the Nevada event.

The first BurnOut event was held in 2008, and has been held annually ever since.

BURNOUT LEADERSHIP: Like SOAK, BurnOut has been owned and produced by SOAK LLC since very early on and is also managed by a Volunteer Event Producer who is selected each year. Precipitation Northwest is responsible for producing BurnOut 2017, and will become the long-term owners of the event beginning in 2018 thanks to a generous donation from SOAK LLC.
